Banking is no different from other disciplines when it comes to individuals vs. teams. No one person can operate alone, in isolation. What matters most on a trading floor is not each individual’s positions, but the bank’s position as a whole.
Global Trader is unique in giving each user two views. One shows that person’s individual position, while the other is a team-wide view.
The latter not only applies to simple measures, like the team’s aggregate position in a particular instrument, but also to analytics like the DV01 or option vega across the whole team, likewise with metrics like risk exposure and PnL.
The ability for each member of a team to view and contribute to the team-wide position in real-time – including risk analytics – is invaluable in developing the team-work ethos.
